Who are we?
Dunain Community Woodland is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status in Scotland. It is open to everyone with an interest in the area. Our main objective is:
to sustainably manage and improve the woodlands in the area of Dunain Woods, Inverness, as an important part of Scotland's natural environment for the benefit of the public.
Who owns Dunain Woods?
Dunain Woods are owned by Robertson Homes who are preparing to lease the land to Dunain Community Woodlands - a charitable organisation run entirely by volunteers.
Our aim is to manage the woods for the benefit of the local community - in particular for education, training and, recreation, providing open access for members of the local community.
What happens at Dunain Woods?
Dunain Woodland is open to all comers. Many come to the woods and open spaces just to enjoy them, to walk around, to listen to the birds, to visit the forest of the future with its native tree saplings, each one planted by local children or to picnic by the wildlife ponds, and the reservoir or enjoy the views from the ruined chambered cairn.
Anyone interested in the conservation of the environment will enjoy Dunain Woods.
